      • - In the two years I rented with them, they never once answered my e-mails. Entered my studio without my permission, never repaired broken things while it was supposed to be a renovated building. Also getting my deposit back was a living hell. Not one single reply on e-mails, ignoring phone calls, only answering phone calls when I hid my caller ID and even then they were unprofessional and useless. Always coming up with excuses and never actually actively doing something. Then finally after 3 months I got my money back but not the right amount. 2 months later now and I'm still waiting on the rest of my money. Most unprofessional company and group of scammers I've ever come into contact with. Do not recommend at all.

      • - Don’t be fooled by their nice office and supposedly great services. I accompanied my daughter to settle in her new apartment, but after calling several times to get the keys, they never answered and we had to pay a hotel for two nights. We got the place which was supposed to be clean and the bathroom and kitchen were dirty, but we probably have different standards to what the word “clean” means. They are keeping part of the deposit because they say the microwave oven was dirty when it was actually filthy when we got it. Try to look for another place to rent so you don’t get surprises like this at the end. On top of that they tell you the windows are “sound proof”, it is impossible to sleep through the night. Tons of noise and the alarm went on a lot of time due to smoke coming into the building due to the bars downstairs. They never answer their phone or the emails and always have the most useless answers to not solve any issue. Worst company ever! They don’t even deserve a one star review.

      • - If I could give this company less than a star I would. First of all, the attitude of the people at the office is completely unprofessional and these people are completely useless. If you are an international student and you are thinking of moving to Leuven: avoid this company at all costs. They will be quick and helpful until you sign the contract and after that, you are on your own. My bad experience started when I was moving to Belgium. I contacted them via email and phone weeks before to let them know about my arrival, not once did they bother to answer. The day I got to Leuven I was on hold for more than an hour after maybe 17-20 calls I made to them: they never answered. My mom and I had to book a hotel for two nights because we had nowhere to stay. When I went to the office to complain about this the lady was bothered my presence as if I was asking any kind of favor to her..I had paid a lot of money and would pay each month a lot of money. They finally gave me an appointment to turn the keys in and the guy who gave them to me didnt explain a lot of things. I told him that the walls were badly painted and he laughed and commented with me as well. The apartment was dirty, microwave was filthy. We cleaned as much as we could. Time started to go by and we had rats in the building. People were supposed to come to clean the building and they did the bare minimum so it was always filthy. Internet connection was awful and didnt work a lot of the times. This studio is located in Oude Markt 43 and the residence is called Bellefroid. We had a bar downstairs that used a smoke machine every night and sometimes the smoke would go up in our building making it foggy and activating the smoke detectors. My neighbors and I would call the “emergency” number we got from the company so they could turn them off because the noise was horrible and would go on for hours- once again, THEY NEVER ANSWERED. When my friend turned my keys in for me because I was already back in my country the guy said they would take 1000€ from my deposit because I had painted the walls which I never did. The walls were badly painted since they gave me the studio. And also they would take 200€ more because the microwave and shower were dirty. When my friend called me to talk about the situation he said they have told him that I had to submit pictures of the walls and the microwave in order for them to not take my money. I immediately did and even made sure you could see the date and time when the pictures were taken. I sent them to two email addresses. Some days later I sent them again and me and my friend called everytime to see if they check their email- they would always come with a different stupid excuse. At the end they only gave me a 600€ deposit, stealing from me 1200€. There is no way to contact them. I have already brought this case to housing department at KU Leuven to see if they are willing to mediate a solution. Dont go to this company- you will lose your time and your money and might even be in danger with their negligence to assist in emergencies.

      • + The team of Syus was super helpful when guiding me into the best option of apartment for me, as I had some special needs that needed to be met. The process to rent my room was super easy, fast and transparent. Everything was new at my place and it is very close to the city center, right in the middle of the ring.

      • - I rented one of their studios in Leuven for a year. I no longer live in Belgium. Here are 10 things I learnt about Syus over this period: 1. You will, almost always, not get a reply to your emails or phone calls. 2. There is a high chance that you will get your deposit back 3,5 months after you empty the flat. 3. When you are able to reach them and ask for clarification, especially about the return of the deposit, they will stall you. First, they will say it will take 2 to 4 weeks. Then, they will raise the bar and say up to 3 months. After 3 months, they will say it will be transferred on that day, the day after or next week. 4. They never stick to the deadlines. For example, it took them 1,5 months to give me my post box key and 3,5 months to give me my deposit. 5. They will never respect your privacy. They entered my flat to hand in the post box key when I was not at home without informing me. They could have sent an email or called me to get my permission. Or they showed my flat to possible tenants when I was away even though I informed them about my absence. 6. The Internet in your flat might be off for almost 4-5 days and once you ask them to fix the situation, they will only believe you if you push other tenants in the building to call them about the same issue. So your word only is not valid. 7. They might not inform the electricity and water companies to terminate the subscription on time. Get ready to deal with these all by yourself. 8. There is a lady in the office (I will not give names) who is totally unprofessional, unhelpful and unwilling to compromise and assist. Everytime I talked to her, I felt she did not care about a single word I said. She is not there to help you. 9. They ask you to clean the flat before you hand over your keys. You have to wash the curtains and change the filter of the cooker hood as well. If you don't do these, you might not get your full deposit. I did all that to get the total amount back. BUT the tenant before me did not even wash the curtains or change the filter. There was a giant spider inside the blinds when I took over the flat and the cooker hood was dirty. So, Syus does not check the flat properly when the tenant leaves. They also do not get the flat ready for the next tenant. Don't forget that you are at the mercy of the previous tenant when it comes to cleanliness, not the housing company. 10. The pictures of the flats on the website are probably taken after renovation. And there is always angle illusion when it comes to property pictures. If you want to or have to rent a flat from Syus, make sure that you check the flat(s) in person to see what is up with the house. I hope no one experiences something like this in Leuven.

      • - Als ze dan eindelijk langskwamen zat er verf op onze persoonlijke spullen. Ze zoeken naar de goedkoopste werkmannen die ze kunnen vinden en hopen dat je te vermoeid bent om voor de 100ste keer langs te gaan bij hun op kantoor.
      • - Als verhuurder mag je fluiten naar het respect dat je verwacht als je ergens 800+ euro voor betaald.
      • - Bespaar jezelf een hele boel hoofdpijn en frustraties en huur ergens anders.
      • - Syus heeft mij telkens weer teleurgesteld op manieren die ik niet kon inbeelden.
      • - Ze komen binnen wanneer ze willen en gaan je hoogstens de dag zelf pas verwittigen als er nieuwe huurders langskomen.
